Job Description:

The Trust Operations – Disbursements Specialist holds primary responsibility for promptly and accurately disbursing funds to clients, utilizing various methods such as checks, wire transfers, and ACH transfers. This position, located in our Boston office, operates under a non-exempt status, providing direct support and services to our partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process both ad hoc and routine payment requests within our Trust Accounting software.
  • Input future distributions as directed.
  • Initiate wire and ACH transfers online to designated banks, while also executing in-house transfers per instructions.
  • Maintain the Positive Pay file with the bank.
  • Address client and attorney inquiries regarding distributions.
  • Troubleshoot issues within the scope of job duties.
  • Fulfill other duties necessary to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate Trust services.


  • A college degree and/or a minimum of three years of successful trust accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in working with numbers and software programs.

Additional Skills/Experience/Essential Functions:
  • Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency with relevant software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with a commitment to following instructions and schedules accurately and promptly.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure, utilizing firm resources.
  • Capable of both independent work and collaboration within a team, contributing to projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy in client interactions, as well as professionalism with colleagues.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism when engaging with partners and employees.
  • Effective communication skills in person, in writing, and electronically, with proficiency in verbal and written expression.
  • Technical proficiency with PCs and software packages such as AccuTrust Cheetah (training provided).
  • Efficient and accurate data input skills, with basic knowledge of accounting functions and/or spreadsheets.
  • Organized work approach to ensure timely and efficient performance.
  • Commitment to confidentiality regarding partner, employee, and firm information.
  • Continual pursuit of advancing knowledge and skills relevant to job duties.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands include sitting for most tasks, with occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching. Mobility within the office is frequently required. Visual tasks include reading from screens and printed materials, with frequent keyboard use requiring high dexterity. Verbal and auditory communication skills are essential for in-person, telephone, and presentation interactions.
