Our client, a prestigious hedge fund, is in search of an engineer well-versed in Windows software development and systems administration to join its Platform Engineering team. This role is hands-on and technical, situated within a cross-platform engineering team responsible for maintaining core technology infrastructure. The team operates within an inclusive, collaborative, and stimulating work environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: In the Platform Engineering role, your tasks will involve designing and maintaining the firm's operating systems, authentication systems, databases, virtualization infrastructure, core network services, and messaging and endpoints. This encompasses both Windows and Linux systems across our internal and external environments. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of infrastructure systems, with a primary focus on Windows-based systems.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Candidates should possess a degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or have equivalent work experience.
  • Substantial experience in Windows software development and systems automation is necessary. Preference is given to those with experience in C# or PowerShell, and beneficially, experience with Python and Rust.
  • A deep understanding of the Windows platform and related technologies (such as Active Directory and Failover Clustering) is required. Also crucial are excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, along with familiarity with various tracing tools like WireShark, ETW, and ProcMon. Preferred experience includes familiarity with common Windows Server applications and management tools such as Exchange, SQL, SCCM, Hyper-V, and ADFS.
  • A working knowledge of network protocols, Linux, and information security concepts is essential. Experience with integrating systems across on-premises and cloud-based environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, and GCP), and working with containers on Windows and Linux, is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are vital, as the role involves substantial interaction with various departments within the firm.
