Systems Engineer
Job Description
The Phoenix Group Advisors is conducting a search for a Systems Engineer at a global financial services firm. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining IT infrastructure to ensure system availability, security, and optimal performance across multiple geographic locations.
The Systems Engineer owns the deployment, support, and ongoing optimization of core infrastructure components, collaborating with technology teams to deliver reliable business systems. The position involves hands-on management of server environments, virtualization, cloud platforms, and security protocols, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with architectural standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain security and operational stability of global IT systems.
- Manage end-to-end Windows Server deployment, patching, and performance tuning.
- Support VMware virtualization, including configuration and maintenance.
- Oversee Microsoft applications like SQL, Exchange, and AD; troubleshoot issues.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS, including VPCs, containers, and managed databases.
- Monitor system health; generate reports on capacity utilization and performance.
- Assist with capacity planning, disaster recovery, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Support backup, security, and vulnerability remediation using tools like Rapid 7.
Core Qualifications:
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience, preferably in finance or trading environments.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft cloud services.
- Proven expertise in VMware, Citrix, Azure, and AWS cloud platforms.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell; experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with security tools and protocols: MFA, RADIUS, SAML, Kerberos.
- Familiarity with Cisco UCS, PURE Storage, SCCM, and endpoint security.
- Ability to support globally dispersed locations under 24/7 operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
