Our client, a multinational law firm, is seeking a Senior Manager, Partnership Accounting, to join their team in San Francisco! 

The Senior Manager, Partnership is responsible for overseeing all financial matters related to individual partners’ ownership in the firm. This includes managing partner distributions, capital accounts, and ensuring compliance with firm policies and the Partnership Agreement. The role requires cross-functional collaboration to ensure accurate, timely payments and effective partner support.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting and reporting of individual partner capital accounts in compliance with the Partnership Agreement.

  • Oversee the capital funding process with the Treasury Team, including coordination with lenders for partner capital loans.

  • Review scheduled distributions and deductions for accuracy prior to processing. Coordinate with multiple departments (e.g., Benefits, Tax, Retirement, AR) on partner-specific payments.

  • Partner with Tax, Treasury, and the Controller to analyze and recommend true-up distribution amounts throughout the year.

  • Communicate distribution details to partners in a timely manner.

  • Review and approve wire requests for international partner payments.

  • Provide Treasury with monthly and annual distribution forecasts and updates.

  • Oversee creation and distribution of individual partner cash flow schedules.

  • Review and contribute to Offer, Assignment, and Transition Letters related to compensation and capital terms.

  • Ensure proper implementation of agreed-upon compensation terms from signed letters.

  • Develop and manage the annual Partnership Accounting budget.

  • Lead the annual Points Process, maintaining data accuracy and integrity, and documenting post-process changes for firm leadership.

  • Calculate and report partners’ final annual share of firm net income.

  • Supply Tax Team with data for quarterly earnings and annual K-1 statements.

  • Support Deloitte with data for mid-year and year-end financial audits.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with complex spreadsheets and VBA macros.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completeness.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex financial matters clearly.

  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • High client service orientation with a proven track record of internal and external client satisfaction.

  • Collaborative team player comfortable working with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
