Role Overview
The Senior Litigation Paralegal provides comprehensive litigation support, overseeing case management, discovery coordination, and court document preparation to ensure efficient legal workflows. The role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of handling high-pressure legal environments while mentoring junior staff and maintaining adherence to court procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize case files from inception through trial and appeal, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete
- Coordinate and review discovery processes, including electronic and paper document productions
- Prepare and file court documents across federal, state, and local courts, ensuring compliance with jurisdiction-specific rules (e.g., CM/ECF, NYSCEF, PacerPro)
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing platforms such as Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and internet research tools
- Assist in trial preparation, including witness coordination, exhibit organization, and deposition summaries
- Serve as a key resource on court practices and procedures, providing guidance to legal teams and junior paralegals
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and outside vendors to meet strict deadlines
- Support billing, WIP tracking, and case management using legal-specific software systems such as iManage and Microsoft Office Suite
Core Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably within mid-to-large law firms or professional services organizations
- Expertise in litigation processes, court procedures, and legal document management
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex, high-volume case files under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and legal document management platforms like iManage
- Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and court electronic filing systems (e.g., CM/ECF, NYSCEF, PacerPro)
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and time management skills
- Willingness to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and travel as required
- Ability to collaborate effectively across legal teams and levels of management in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience mentoring or training junior paralegals
- Familiarity with trial logistics, exhibit preparation, and deposition support
- Additional language skills or specialization in particular litigation areas such as commercial, civil rights, or employment law
