Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to design, configure, deploy, and administer Microsoft Azure SQL and on-premise Microsoft SQL database technologies in all environments.
- Develop and design database schema, SQL queries and turning, stored procedures, and SSIS packages.
- Develop, create, and support Azure Data Factories pipelines, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, data flows, SSIS configurations, and code repositories.
- Use tools to exchange or transform data among heterogeneous systems and platforms
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Agile and /or Waterfall methodologies
- Provide solutions and/or support for non-functional efforts such as Life Cycle Management (Versioning), Performance, Scalability, Reliability, Availability and other capabilities of database technologies.
- Partner with project/BA and/or development team(s) in order to fully understand database requirements and configure the on-premise and/or Azure database environments which meet these requirements.
- Mentor, coach and share knowledge with other team members throughout the technology organization.
- Work independently but a team player and leader.
- A self-starter that can manage their own workload and an ever-growing task list.
- Create and update System documentation and design specifications.
- Apply industry database standards and best practices.
- Research and recommend new and existing technologies to meet business needs, including creating prototypes, design documents, and solution designs.
- Estimate effort involved in completing various database tasks.
- A self-starter that can manage their own, plan and prioritize workload and an ever-growing task list.
- Report activities and progress to management when requested.
- Perform tasks as required by management/supervisory staff.
- Provide support after hours, and on weekends as needed.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience designing, implementing, developing, and maintaining database technologies within Microsoft Azure SQL and on-premise MS SQL Server.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a MS SQL Server and Azure SQL database administrator
- Minimum of 7 years working experience in Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS
- Proficiency in SQL database administration including development, performance tuning, high availability and Disaster / Data recovery solutions
- Experience working with SQL Server and Azure SQL reporting and monitoring tools, and automated tasks/jobs
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Agile and /or Waterfall methodologies
- Experience integrating and migration (to Microsoft Azure SQL) databases with on-premise and cloud based applications.
- Knowledge and implementation of database security solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, project team members, supervisors, and employees from other departments.
- Candidate must have excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge in data warehouse, ETL, data modeling is a plus;
- Working knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL, Mongo and other no-SQL document DBs (preferably cloud hosted, i.e. Azure), and Python programming is a big plus;

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline.
