Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining computer networks including VPNs, switches, routers, and other physical hardware
- Planning, designing, implementing improvements to the existing network infrastructure to include but not limited to VPNs, switching, routing, wireless, and wan.
- Performing software and hardware updates to improve performance and reliability of the network
- Maintaining security for all network systems including configuration to ensure optimal security and virus protection, to include firewall systems and their management.
- Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees and management
- Implementing disaster recovery procedures
- Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
- Monitoring and managing day-to-day operation of internal network systems to improve functionality and efficiency
- Working closely with other infrastructure teams and Help Desk staff to troubleshoot and support network and end-user issues
- Documenting all network installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Requires ongoing coordination, communication and/or team problem solving between departments or functional areas for work production or service quality. Must be comfortable and confident with managing others.
- Expected travel: 25%
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- Certifications required: CCNA \ CCS
- Certifications preferred: CCNP
- 5+ years of network engineering and administration
- 5+ years of experience developing and managing Cisco networks
- Expert understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, LAN, WAN, MPLS, firewalls, routing, wireless and security infrastructure (IDS,IPS,IAM,MFA).
- Data Center experience is big plus
- Proficient at troubleshooting and critically analyzing complex technology problems, proposing, and implementing solutions
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple actions occurring simultaneously
- Ability to navigate and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, or equally well as a member of a project team
- Knowledge in governance and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST 800-53) preferred
