Role Overview
The Pro Bono Coordinator is responsible for managing the administrative, operational, and database functions of the firm’s pro bono program, ensuring smooth execution of legal clinics, training sessions, and outreach projects. This position plays a pivotal role in facilitating efficient case management, compliance monitoring, and internal and external communications, supporting the firm’s commitment to providing accessible legal services and fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management and coordination of pro bono matters, including legal clinics, client intake, case staffing, and case transitions, under the direction of the Pro Bono Committee.
  • Monitor case statuses, upcoming hearings, and attorney responses to ensure timely progression and case continuity.
  • Develop, update, and distribute pro bono training materials, resources, and templates; maintain knowledge-sharing tools and resources.
  • Assist in executing pro bono events such as clinics, trainings, and community outreach activities, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Maintain and update pro bono case databases, interest surveys, compliance tracking, and attorney capacity records.
  • Generate reports on pro bono activity, compliance, and impact metrics for use by department leaders and external reporting.
  • Support internal and external communications, including drafting newsletters, updating the pro bono section of the firm’s website, and highlighting awards and recognitions.
  • Assist attorneys with client communications, including follow-ups, translating for Spanish-speaking clients, and initial client intake during clinics.
  • Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to ensure accuracy of reporting and proper documentation of engagement and closing letters.


Core Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-ranked university, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • 1-2 years of legal practice support, legal services, or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluent or proficient in Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask across multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in pro bono work, immigration law, or poverty law is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities effectively.
  • Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and strong service orientation aligned with the firm’s core values.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with legal case management systems and database tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Clio, Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with legal reporting, compliance, and document management practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency beyond basic Spanish (additional languages a plus).
  • Knowledge of community outreach, training coordination, or public relations in a legal setting.
