An innovative technology organization within the professional services sector is seeking a skilled Messaging Systems Engineer to become a key member of its Information Services Department. This role involves managing enterprise messaging infrastructure, from research and design to implementation, support, and training, with a focus on cloud-based and on-premises systems to ensure seamless communication across a global enterprise.

Role Overview
The Messaging Systems Engineer assumes ownership of complex messaging solutions, supporting enterprise-wide email, collaboration, and mobile device management environments. This role directly influences system reliability, security, and user support, reporting to the Manager of Messaging Engineering and contributing to technology projects that enhance organizational communication and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, migrate, and support Microsoft Exchange Server environments, including on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online (Office 365).
  • Architect, implement, and maintain global messaging infrastructure encompassing Exchange, Mobile Device Management (MDM), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and email security protocols.
  • Manage and secure Microsoft Windows Active Directory/Entra, including role-based access control, monitoring, scripting, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues related to messaging platforms and directory services, ensuring high availability and security compliance.
  • Oversee messaging security measures, such as third-party email gateways, anti-virus, anti-spam, TLS encryption, and email filtering solutions.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring of messaging systems and recommend enhancements to optimize performance and security.
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation, operational procedures, and training sessions for departmental staff and end-users.
  • Create technical proposals for project planning and document system configurations, security policies, and operational workflows.
  • Design, implement, and support mobile device management solutions, including Mobile Iron, AirWatch, and Microsoft Intune MDM.
  • Lead and participate in large-scale projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technology initiatives on schedule and within scope.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Messaging Engineering.

Core Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of six years of experience managing Microsoft Exchange Server (including online and hybrid environments) and Active Directory/Entra.
  • Extensive expertise in Exchange Online administration and migration.
  • Strong proficiency with Entra ID (Azure AD), including user and group management, conditional access policies, guest user lifecycle management, privileged identity management (PIM), and security monitoring.
  • Proven ability to configure MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for all user types, especially administrative accounts.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for Active Directory and Exchange issues.
  • Working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Demonstrated experience with mobile device management solutions such as Mobile Iron, Microsoft Intune, and AirWatch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Visio.
  • Flexibility to learn new technologies outside current expertise and adapt to evolving systems.
  • Ability to provide after-hours system support and contribute to on-call rotation as needed.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large, multi-national enterprise environments.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Messaging Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of load balancers, VMware virtualization, compute, and storage infrastructure.
  • Background in supporting legal or professional services firms with extensive user bases.
