Job Description


Title: Legal Secretary (Trusts & Estates focus)

Type: Full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

Hours: 35-hour work week On site M-F in West Hartford

Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000 (DOE)

PTO: 25 days/year

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Staff: Assist one Associate attorney and three Fiduciary Accountants

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Manage high volume of email communications

  • Maintain and monitor calendars

  • Coordinate client meetings and ensure all documentation is ready

  • Prepare and maintain client binders (both paper and electronic)

  • Transcribe, draft, and proofread legal correspondence and documents

  • Client Interaction:

  • Arrange Notary services for signings

  • Communicate with clients and referrals

  • Maintain accurate and updated contact information

  • Legal and Billing Systems:

  • Enter attorney time in Aderant (or Time Expert)

  • Assist with monthly billing

  • Other:

  • Handle special projects as assigned

  • Work overtime when needed

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Education: College degree preferred

    • Experience: Prior experience in Trusts & Estates strongly preferred

    • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat

    • Familiarity with Aderant or Time Expert

    • Experience with Trust and Estate tax returns or Turbo Court filings is a plus

  • Personal Attributes:

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize independently

  • Strong work ethic and respect for confidentiality

  • Team-oriented, but self-motivated
