Job Description
Legal Secretary
The Legal Secretary provides high-level administrative and legal support to one attorney, assisting with timekeeping, billing, document management, court filings, and overall office coordination.
Responsibilities
-
Provide administrative support for one (1) attorney.

Enter attorney’s time daily; reconcile with Aderant register and maintain an up-to-date timeslip file.

Collaborate with the Billing Coordinator to create, review, finalize, and send client invoices.

Draft, revise, and finalize legal documents and correspondence.

Maintain chronological files of client correspondence.

Ensure timely and accurate filing of client documents and case files.
-
Prepare and eFile documents with the Connecticut Probate Court.

Process check requests and attorney's monthly/quarterly Expense Reimbursement Request forms.

Track and maintain reports related to documents, telephone usage, and mobile phone charges for client recoveries or personal expenses.

Manage attorney’s calendar, coordinate meetings, and ensure all preparation is completed in advance.

Handle all copying, emailing, and mailing of correspondence (via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).

Open, review, and sort attorney’s mail.

Available to work overtime when necessary.
Qualifications
-
College degree preferred.
-
Knowledge of Connecticut Probate Courts, judicial procedures, ePortal, and CSC eRecording is preferred.

Proficiency in:
-
Microsoft Office Suite
-
Excel, Outlook, iManage, Olympus, Aderant, GEMS, Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, and ChromeRiver (preferred; training may be provided)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and multitask effectively.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 (dependent upon experience)

Status: Non-exempt; eligible for overtime

Paid Time Off (PTO): 25 days per calendar year

Work Week: 35 hours
