Job Description
The Information Governance (IG) Specialist plays a critical role in managing and protecting the firm’s data, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and best practices related to data governance, records management, and information security.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain the firm’s information governance framework, policies, and procedures.

Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry-specific standards related to records management and data protection.

Collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams to identify and mitigate risks related to information management.

Oversee document lifecycle management, including retention, classification, and disposal in accordance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.

Manage the secure transfer and storage of client and firm data.

Conduct audits and risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of information governance practices.

Provide training and guidance to attorneys and staff on information governance best practices and compliance requirements.

Support litigation and eDiscovery processes by ensuring proper handling and preservation of electronically stored information (ESI).

Stay up to date on emerging trends, laws, and regulations affecting information governance in the legal sector.
