IT Infrastructure Manager (iSeries)

Job Description

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the IBM iSeries environment, ensuring performance, availability, and alignment with business objectives.

Partner with cross-functional IT teams to oversee all aspects of the iSeries platform, including system architecture, performance tuning, and security.

Define and articulate the technical strategy and long-term roadmap for the iSeries platform.

Optimize the performance of applications and system interactions to meet established service levels and business performance goals.

Oversee iSeries system administration, including patching, firmware upgrades, software installs, migrations, and lifecycle maintenance.

Ensure that systems are maintained at current and supported revision levels through regular audits and assessments.

Lead vendor engagement and third-party software management, ensuring compliance with update and support cycles.

Hold Managed Services Providers accountable for support SLAs, performance, and timely issue resolution.

Facilitate regular operational reviews and track issue resolution progress across teams.

Coordinate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes and lead related documentation and testing efforts.

Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for routine system management tasks.

Respond to and resolve escalated system issues from users, IT teams, and the support center.

Mentor and lead a team of IT professionals, fostering growth through career development, training, and hands-on business exposure.

Establish performance goals for team members and conduct timely evaluations.

Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.

5–7+ years of hands-on experience managing or supporting IBM i (iSeries) environments.
