Job Description
The primary focus of this position is to contribute expertise in both domestic and foreign intellectual property processes, with a comprehensive understanding of utility patents, design patents, and trademarks.
Responsibilities:

Team Collaboration:
- Actively participate as a valuable member of our team of patent specialists, paralegals, docketers, and attorneys.

Intellectual Property Knowledge:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of domestic and foreign intellectual property processes and policies, specifically in utility patents, design patents, and trademarks.
- Proficiently navigate various IP databases, including ePCT, USPTO, Espacenet, WIPO, etc.

Communication Skills:
- Exhibit strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and foreign agents.

Legal Drafting and Amendments:
- Draft shell amendments for Attorney use in response to domestic and foreign actions.

Docket Management:
- Track and manage IP dockets and deadlines efficiently using CPi and PATTSY.

Portfolio Management:
- Generate and manage client portfolios.

Delegation:
- Distribute and track assigned work to paralegals and associates.

Document Management:
- Open and maintain new patent matters, including complete prosecution history.

Information Disclosure Statements (IDSs):
- Generate and file IDSs, demonstrating strong research skills to obtain necessary non-patent literature documents and foreign publications.

Quality Control:
- Review issued patents and registered trademarks, identify errors, determine expiration dates, and prepare certificate of correction if necessary.

Reporting and Correspondence:
- Draft reporting letters for attorney review and circulate to clients after approval.

Project Management:
- Effectively communicate with assigned attorneys, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple patent-related projects.

Attention to Detail:
- Display excellent attention to detail in all assigned projects and tasks, including calendaring, scheduling meetings, and file openings.

Software Proficiency:
- Proficient in LegalKey, CompliGuard Flow, Carpe Diem, Document Management system, and Microsoft programs (Word, Visio, Excel, and Outlook) or a fast learner.

Professional Development:
- Annually complete eight hours of continued technical education through the training department.

Administrative Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Oversee invoice payments, expenses, and reimbursements using Chrome River.
- Prepare engagement letters.
- Coordinate tracking of CLE (Continuing Legal Education) for attorneys.
Experience:
- 5+ years of related experience.
