Job Description
Job Duties:
- Manage client interactions and draft correspondence and documents related to the legal and administrative aspects of estate and trust administration.
- Prepare probate and administration papers, federal and New York State (and other states') estate and inheritance tax returns.
- Coordinate distributions to various trust beneficiaries and assist with arranging the payment of estimated taxes.
- Maintain a tax "tickler" to verify the timely filing of returns and assemble work papers for several client individual tax returns.
- Collaborate with attorneys, investment advisors, and administrators to address questions and various matters.
- Arrange for date-of-death appraisals of assets and establish estate accounts.
- Prepare Receipt and Release documents and draft Agreements Settling Accounts of Executors and Trustees.
- Bachelors Degree
- Minimum of 10+ years of recent experience working on estate and trust administration as well as Fiduciary Tax for a quality Law Firm
- Knowledge of Hot Docs Surrogate’s Court Forms
- Familiarity with Surrogate’s Court procedures in NY, CT, NJ, & FL
- Knowledge of ProSystem or Gosystem
- Knowledge of Omega or OneSource Software a plus
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and to be a team player, with dedication to quality service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Build strong working relationships with clients, attorneys, accountants and other administrators
- Knowledge of Tax Forms 1041, 706, 709, 990-PF
