Our client, a reputable legal services firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Docketing Clerk to join their team. This role is vital in maintaining accurate litigation schedules, supporting case management, and ensuring compliance with court deadlines.
Role Overview
The Docketing Clerk will manage the firm’s litigation calendar, track deadlines, file court documents, and support attorneys across various cases. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the firm’s efficiency and precision in legal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the firm’s master litigation calendar and individual attorney calendars.
- Calculate, track, and monitor litigation deadlines per court rules and procedural requirements.
- Prepare customized docket reports and case status updates as needed.
- Conduct case research, monitor case activity, and coordinate with external vendors for court documents.
- File and serve court documents electronically and manually in state and federal courts.
- Collaborate with the Managing Clerk’s Office to ensure docket accuracy and system integrity.
- Assist with court services, including retrieving court decisions, submitting filings, and managing process servers.
- Respond to case team inquiries regarding deadlines and court rules.
- Support cross-functional projects like docket audits, motion and appeals tracking, and reporting.
- Provide administrative support, including accurate time entry and general office functions.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
- 4–6 years of relevant legal calendaring and docketing experience.
- Proficiency with legal calendaring systems such as CourtAlert and CompuLaw.
- Familiarity with electronic filing systems like PACER, NYSCEF, and legal research tools including Bloomberg Law and CourtLink.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court rules (e.g., CPLR, FRCP).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Prior experience supporting litigation teams in a law firm environment.
- Knowledge of docketing, calendaring, and recordkeeping best practices related to risk management.
