Job Description


Our client, a leading global investment management firm, is seeking a Director of Database Admin to join their team! 

Major Responsibilities and Activities:
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities

Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a minimum of 8-10 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, preferably with financial experience in a trading environment
  • Ability to work under pressure to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and to meet demanding deadlines, possessing strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • 5+ years’ experience working with performance tuning
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Microsoft Windows Server, including Active Directory
  • 5+ year experience working knowledge of SSAS/SSRS
  • Experience monitoring overall health of systems
  • Root cause analysis experience is required
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Windows Client platforms; experience in Microsoft Windows Clustering in a stretch datacenter configuration is preferred
  • Experience with VMware 5.x and 6.x, including design and maintenance of virtualized SQL Servers across both platforms
  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings and be on call as required; the responsibilities are for a 7x24 IT operation
  • Must maintain a sincere, polite and respectful customer service attitude when working with the business
  • Possess the ability to work intra-team and with application development teams to provide solutions to users
  • Ability to support multiple globally dispersed locations
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM preferred, and Microsoft SCOM required
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Beneficial Skills and Abilities:
  • MCSA or MCSE Certification a plus
  • Knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, and another database systems a plus
