Job Description
Role Overview
The Database Administrator will manage and optimize PostgreSQL and Amazon DocumentDB (MongoDB-compatible) databases within complex cloud ecosystems. You’ll ensure data integrity, high availability, and secure access while partnering with engineering and analytics teams to support research, analytics, and reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary administrator for PostgreSQL and Amazon DocumentDB instances, monitoring system health, uptime, and performance metrics
- Perform database tuning including indexing strategies, query optimization, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks proactively
- Manage cloud data platforms and services such as AWS and GCP, including Databricks and Apache Spark to support data processing and analytics
- Handle operational database work: patching, migrations, upgrades, and scaling strategies to maintain stability and accommodate growth
- Enforce security and governance best practices, including access control and data governance aligned with HIPAA and GDPR
- Design and review scalable data models, schemas, and data architectures that support application development and business goals
- Collaborate with software engineers and data/analytics teams to integrate databases with ETL pipelines and BI/reporting tools such as Power BI
- Document data lineage and metadata and support audit/compliance activities related to healthcare data privacy
- Assist with ad-hoc analysis, troubleshooting, and ensuring reporting accuracy and data quality
- 3+ years supporting SQL and NoSQL databases in enterprise environments
- Proven experience managing PostgreSQL and Amazon DocumentDB (MongoDB-compatible) or similar NoSQL platforms
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS and GCP, plus Databricks and Apache Spark
- Familiarity with healthcare data privacy and governance standards, including HIPAA and GDPR
- Ability to design scalable, reliable database solutions aligned with organizational needs
- Experience with Power BI or comparable reporting/visualization tools
- Strong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Healthcare, clinical workflow, or enterprise SaaS experience
- Knowledge of customer-centric product frameworks such as Jobs-To-Be-Done
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills in hybrid or remote teams

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000 + 5% bonus
