Client Accounting Specialist
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Oversee client and matter setup to ensure compliance with engagement letters and billing guidelines.
- Maintain billing instructions and update client and matter records as needed.
- Monitor work in progress to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Coordinate prebills and ensure they are reviewed and processed on schedule.
- Process billing adjustments, including edits, write-downs, transfers, and discounts.
- Audit invoices for accuracy before finalizing and posting.
- Manage attorney and client deadlines related to billing and accruals.
- Track accounts receivable and implement collection strategies.
- Resolve client disputes and research misapplied payments.
- Maintain accurate billing records and ensure proper documentation.
- Communicate regularly with attorneys and clients to facilitate smooth billing and collections processes.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Capable of managing complex accounts with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess different courses of action and evaluate potential impacts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with attorneys, staff, and clients.
- Adaptability to business changes and evolving workplace dynamics.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
