About the Role
The Billing Service Desk Coordinator supports the Client Accounting team by managing and responding to billing-related requests submitted through internal workflows. This role is responsible for producing billing data and reports, addressing procedural questions, and serving as a key point of contact for internal staff and attorneys.
Client Service

  • Demonstrate and promote the Firm’s Client Service Principles through collaboration, quality work product, and professional interactions

  • Deliver consistent, high-quality service to internal and external clients by responding promptly and thoughtfully to requests

  • Recognize that each request supports a broader client or firm need and approach all work with a service-oriented mindset
Billing Service Desk Responsibilities

  • Use the firm’s financial systems, workflows, and tools to review, assign, and complete ad hoc requests, including prebills, inventory reports, invoice copies, and general billing inquiries

  • Monitor workflow queues and service levels to ensure timely and accurate responses

  • Review Outside Counsel Guidelines and document billing-related requirements for firm clients

  • Develop a strong understanding of client and matter setups and review configurations for accuracy

  • Provide backup support to the Client Accounting team, including coverage during team member absences and assistance with the monthly prebill cycle

  • Support audits and financial reconciliations, including reviewing and submitting electronic billing files to clients
About You

  • Some college coursework in accounting or business preferred; an associate’s degree is strongly preferred

  • Prior billing experience is helpful but not required; a strong interest in building a career in legal accounting is essential

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with internal stakeholders

  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to assess requests, provide thorough and efficient responses, and keep stakeholders informed on complex matters

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; willingness and aptitude to learn new systems and tools

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential firm and client information with discretion
New York salary range: $60k to $80k
Boston or Washington, D.C. salary range: $55k to $78k

Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO.
