Summary: Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the Azure Cloud Architect and Engineer will lead in the assessment, design, implementation, and support of scalable, high-performance assets in Azure, integrating both private and public cloud technologies. Responsibilities include planning and executing legacy infrastructure transformations and migrations to Azure/cloud environments to drive next-generation business outcomes efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Cloud Strategy Development: Craft and execute a comprehensive cloud roadmap and approved solutions aligned with organizational objectives and technology strategies.

  2. Architecture Design and Review: Define and supervise the architecture of cloud solutions, ensuring adherence to scalability, performance, security, and compliance standards.

  3. Solution Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize cloud services, configurations, and expenditures to maximize efficiency and return on investment.

  4. Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures, access controls, and compliance protocols within the cloud environment.

  5. Cloud Resource Management: Utilize infrastructure as code and automation tools to manage cloud resources effectively.

  6. Virtual Machine Deployment: Deploy and manage cloud resources efficiently using infrastructure as code and automation tools.

  7. Expertise in Azure Services: Proficiently handle Azure services including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, and Azure Insight/Monitor.

  8. Containerization and Kubernetes: Manage containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or similar platforms.

  9. Networking and Security: Configure cloud Virtual Networks, Subnets, Security Groups, and Network Security Groups to ensure secure and efficient communication.

  10. Monitoring and Alerting: Establish and manage Azure Monitor/Insight, Log Analytics for effective monitoring and alerting.

  11. Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and high availability strategies to ensure business continuity.

  12. Change Management: Analyze and provide recommendations for large-scale, complex changes or issues across systems and platforms.

  13. Documentation and Best Practices: Create and maintain detailed documentation of Azure architectures, configurations, and best practices while driving cloud standards for consistency.

  14. Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to Azure engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide support outside regular hours and on weekends as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate architectural decisions.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum eight years of experience supporting medium to large Microsoft Azure enterprises within an Infrastructure department.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Proficiency in Azure networking, identity and access management, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and security features.
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Security Engineer are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AWS services is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with legacy solution migrations to the cloud is beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Technology, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
