Associate Director of Systems Engineering
Job Description
Seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a global financial services organization overseeing enterprise infrastructure, including Windows, Citrix, and cloud environments. This role requires a highly technical, client-focused professional capable of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable system solutions that support core business operations and compliance standards.
Role Overview
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise infrastructure systems, ensuring maximum uptime, security, and performance across diverse environments. This position plays a key role in supporting financial trading platforms, back-office applications, and network hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of global Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Office 365, Azure Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure services to ensure stability and security.
- Design, deploy, and support Citrix virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), including Delivery Controller, Provisioning Services (PVS), StoreFront, Netscaler/VPX, and Citrix Cloud integrations.
- Maintain and enhance system security by implementing MFA, endpoint protection, vulnerability scans (e.g., Rapid7), and security configurations for compliance and risk mitigation.
- Develop and execute backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans using technologies such as Commvault, Rubrik, and supporting recovery workflows.
- Configure and troubleshoot enterprise network hardware and software, including Cisco UCS, SAN storage (Fibre Channel/iSCSI), and VPN solutions, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.
- Automate routine tasks and system configurations using PowerShell scripting, CI/CD pipeline tools (Azure DevOps), and configuration management platforms.
- Monitor infrastructure health and performance utilizing monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, SumoLogic), creating advanced alerts and reports for capacity planning and incident management.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement privileged access management, work within authentication frameworks (SAML, Kerberos, RADIUS), and support MFA solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, procedures, and architecture diagrams; continuously improve internal processes and workflows.
- Provide escalated support and consultation for technical issues involving Windows Servers, Active Directory, Citrix environments, networking, and cloud integrations.
- Support multiple geographically dispersed locations, adjusting schedules to work evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as part of 24/7 IT operations.
Core Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure in fast-paced environments, preferably within financial or trading firms.
- Advanced expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, PVS, StoreFront, Netscaler/VPX, Citrix Cloud; experience with profile management tools such as FSLogix.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory (including replication, domains, GPO management), and Microsoft applications (SQL, Exchange).
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (Azure AD, hybrid cloud, cloud migrations) and working across on-premises and cloud data centers.
- Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools like Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of network security protocols (SAML, Kerberos, RADIUS), privileged access management, and endpoint security tools (Microsoft ATP, Intune).
- Familiarity with vulnerability management platforms (Rapid7), SAN storage (FC/iSCSI), virtualization (VMware), and backup solutions (Rubrik, Commvault).
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotations, supporting a 24/7 operational environment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Certifications such as Citrix Certified Expert, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, or VMware Certified Professional.
- Experience with Cisco UCS hardware and SAN storage networks.
- Knowledge of PKI infrastructure and MS CA configurations.
- Familiar with monitoring platforms like Syslog, LogicMonitor, and supporting alerting systems such as PagerDuty.
