Job Description

Our client, a top US Law Firm, is seeking an Associate Business Development Manager (Corporate/Energy) to join their team in Boston!  Key Responsibilities Business Development

  • Support attorneys in expanding existing client relationships and establishing new ones.

  • Guide attorneys through the sales cycle, including lead development, pitching, and follow-up.

  • Draft targeted pitch materials and responses to RFPs.

  • Leverage firm data (client financials, pitch activity) and CRM platforms to track and enhance sales and client development efforts.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and the Senior Business Development Manager to create and implement strategic plans, ensuring alignment with budget and resources.
Marketing & Profile Enhancement

  • Develop and execute strategies to increase practice visibility through events, sponsorships, and speaking engagements.

  • Work with the PR team to enhance attorney recognition in third-party publications.

  • Manage submissions for industry rankings and recognitions such as Chambers, Best Law Firms, and Legal 500.

  • Oversee the process of collecting and maintaining experience records for use in pitches, RFPs, website content, and marketing materials.

  • Ensure mailing lists remain current and accurately include clients and target contacts.
Practice Support

  • Oversee the integration of new lateral attorneys, including developing collateral, facilitating internal introductions, and coordinating client outreach.

  • Assist practice management in organizing meetings and setting agendas.

  • Participate in budget preparation and ongoing financial reviews.

  • Supervise and motivate a Business Development Specialist.
Qualifications Summary

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher with 5+ years of business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment.

  • Client & Attorney Engagement: Strong consultative approach, ability to build advisory relationships with attorneys, and a client-focused mindset.

  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Ability to assess industry trends, analyze data, and develop actionable plans to drive business growth.

  • Project & Time Management: Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new software and tools.

  • Professionalism & Integrity: High level of discretion, ethical judgment, and ability to handle confidential information with diplomacy.

  • Initiative & Adaptability: Proactive, hands-on approach, with a positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to innovate.

  • Work Expectations: 60% in-office presence required; ability to travel 10% or more based on business needs.
