Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize core accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, billing workflows, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance within a law firm environment.

  • Develop, document, and maintain standardized accounting procedures and internal controls, proactively identifying and addressing process inefficiencies, control gaps, and risks.

  • Drive financial system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and integrations, translating accounting, billing, and operational requirements into effective system configurations.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for Aderant, Prebill Viewer, and Chrome River, ensuring system integrity, documentation, reporting capability, and compliance support.

  • Lead accounting and finance-related projects, including process redesign and compliance initiatives, developing project plans, timelines, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, IT, and external vendors to execute initiatives successfully, track progress, and communicate status to leadership.

  • Strengthen internal controls through system-based solutions and well-designed processes.

  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring accurate documentation, accessible data, and alignment with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong foundation in accounting operations with hands-on experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial and accounting systems.

  • Experience leading accounting or finance-related projects.

  • Ability to translate accounting requirements into effective systems and workflows.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong technical aptitude; SQL proficiency highly desirable.
