Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end activities, ensuring accurate entries and timely closure of the trial balance within three business days of month-end.

  • Handle financial reporting for international offices, maintaining accounting records, preparing financial statements, and recording inter-company activity in line with service agreements.

  • Manage the Firm’s annual audit for both domestic and international offices, coordinating audits, responding to audit requests, and finalizing audited financial statements.

  • Assist with the annual audit for the retirement plan and prepare/distribute compliance reports to relevant parties.

  • Utilize technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues in accounts and schedules.

  • Complete balance sheet account reconciliation schedules for all offices, ensuring resolution of reconciling items.

  • Mentor and manage the senior staff accountant and other general office employees involved in accounting transactions.

  • Mentor the trust accountant, oversee trust disbursements, and review trust bank account reconciliations.

  • Regularly review unallocated and suspense account balances, working with the accounting team and attorneys to resolve issues.

  • Maintain accounting and corresponding schedules for construction in progress and deferred leases, collaborating with other offices as necessary.

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Accounting in managing the firm’s cash and client trust accounts, acting as a backup for wire transactions and handling the firm’s credit facilities.

  • Assist in providing information for annual budgeting to the Finance Team.

  • Aid in the implementation of financial reporting and automation of accounting tasks using 3E finance software.

  • Assist with other ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of Accounting.



  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Certification: CPA designation is required.

  • Experience: Minimum 4-5 years of accounting and reporting experience, with Big 4 public accounting and audit experience. Law firm experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Enterprise accounting software (3E preferred).

  • Intermediate or advanced Excel proficiency.

  • Clear and effective communication, both orally and in writing, with internal and external contacts.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team and organize/prioritize work in a dynamic environment to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cooperative and friendly manner.

  • Detail-oriented, curious, critical thinker, focused on continuous improvement, and automation of repetitive tasks.
