Job Description

Our client is seeking 2 Fiduciary Accountants to join their Naples team! 

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, gather, analyze, abstract, and organize legal documents such as wills and trust agreements in compliance with legal standards.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain financial statements and spreadsheets related to client investments; extract information for tax return preparation as required.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships both to clarify information, gather supporting documents, and assist in legal proceedings.
  • Review estate planning documents, wills, and trust agreements to facilitate the preparation of income tax and excise tax returns.
  • Assist in compiling asset and debt information for trusts and estates.
  • Organize and maintain records, information, and documents crucial to legal proceedings.
  • Analyze legal proceedings to identify potential issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain tracking and accounting systems for client investments to facilitate the preparation of U.S. trust tax returns.
  • Prepare U.S. federal and state estate tax returns (Form 706 and state equivalents).
  • Prepare U.S. federal and state fiduciary income tax returns for estates, testamentary, and inter vivos trusts (Form 1041 and state equivalents).
  • Prepare U.S. tax returns for individuals and non-profit organizations (Form 1040, Form 709, and Form 5227).
  • Compile probate and fiduciary accountings for trusts and estates.
  • Prepare necessary filings, including extensions of time, for all accountings and tax returns.
  • Address IRS notices and resolve outstanding tax issues.
  • Monitor deadlines to ensure timely filing or extension of returns and accountings.
  • Experience with the preparation of fiduciary accountings
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Estate Val Software (EVP), ProSystem FX, FastTax and GEMS
  • Knowledge of trust and estate procedures and trial balance sheets
  • Degree in accounting or finance, preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Fiduciary Accountant or tax preparer
