Job Description
We are seeking an Application Engineer to support our expansion in Europe and Asia. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in operating systems and kernel fundamentals. Based in New York City, you will collaborate closely with our Application Engineering team in Europe to support global customer deployments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Technical Support: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, analyzing incidents to identify root causes and providing in-depth technical expertise for resolution.
- Project Collaboration: Work with developers from project conception to QA/verification, and develop application documentation for customer-specific projects.
- Initial Product Deployment Assistance: Assist customers during the initial deployment of products, including hardware configuration, software installation on servers, and initial training.
- API Integration Support: Aid customers in their development and integration of our API with market data and trading applications.
- Process Design and Documentation: Design and document processes related to customer support.
- Script Development: Develop, test, maintain, and support a library of scripts to assist customers with configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Monitoring Infrastructure Improvement: Enhance existing monitoring and verification infrastructure in our labs.
- Product Enhancement Identification: Identify potential enhancements and strategic directions for the product portfolio.
- Sales and Marketing Collaboration: Support Sales and Marketing teams, stay updated with industry developments by following relevant websites, documents, and attending trading conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Strong experience with troubleshooting systems and applications in complex environments.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail while managing multiple projects.
- Technical Interaction Management: Ability to manage all aspects of technical interactions with customers and prospects.
- Independent Worker: Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Desire to Learn: Eagerness to learn, delve into technical details, and quickly apply new skills.
Technical Knowledge:
- Operating Systems and Programming: Strong understanding and experience with Linux, C/C++, and scripting languages (e.g., Python).
- Kernel Fundamentals: In-depth knowledge of operating systems internals, including kernel fundamentals.
- Networking: Strong understanding of networking (e.g., multicast, TCP/UDP, routing).
- Development Lifecycle: Experience with software or hardware development lifecycle.
- Financial Industry Experience: Preferred experience working within the financial/trading industry.
- Market Data Protocols: Desired experience with low latency market data feed protocols (e.g., ITCH, XDP), order execution protocols, and ticker plant technology.
Desired Qualifications:
- Development Experience: At least 1 year of development experience.
- Customer-Facing Technology Role: At least 1 year of experience working in a technology function in a customer-facing role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
Other:
- Travel: 5% travel required.
